Grace Philosophy of Ministry:
1. Christ Is Head Of The Church
- We stand in absolute devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ because He was first
completely devoted to us.
- Our pastoral staff will be devoted to give direction, train leaders, teach the Word
of God and model discipleship. Staff will be hired as necessary to fulfill our
vision and purpose.
- All of our leadership (positional or functional) will b devoted to model
discipleship, grow in spiritual maturity, develop leadership skills, exercise their
spiritual gifts and abilities, and help equip the congregation for ministry.
- Our congregation will be devoted to a Christ-like relationship with God and each
other so that God’s will may be accomplished. We will seek to saturate each ministry
in prayer, thereby expressing our total dependence on God.
2. The Church Is The Body Of Christ
- Like a physical body, the church exists as one unit with each part/member dependent
on the other. Therefore, each church member must be devoted to growing, learning and
modeling discipleship. The role of church leadership is to provide the resources to
allow the parts of the body too fully develop under the direction of the Holy
Spirit.
- We recognize that Christ has given His body spiritual gifts. We seek to encourage
and assist each member to know, dedicate, develop and use these spiritual gifts to
build a healthy, disciple-making church.
3. Excellence in Ministry
- Every Ministry at Grace is to be Christ-centered, biblically based and operated,
supported by prayer and led by the Holy Spirit.
- Worship - The primary function of our worship services will be to give God His
worth in spirit and in truth by presenting to Him authentic praise through music, by
proclaiming God’s Word, and through corporate prayer.
- Adult Bible Fellowship - This structure on Sunday mornings will be designed for
biblical instruction, fellowship, care, assimilation, and outreach.
- Children & Student Ministries - Ministries to our children and students of
different ages will provide biblical instruction and fellowship, with opportunity to
participate in hands on discipleship training and outreach. These ministries will be
designed to supplement and strengthen the family.
- Small Group Ministry - This ministry exists to enable the church body to
effectively care for one another, grow in discipleship and reach those needing to
know Jesus Christ as personal Savior.
- Administration - Our church government is congregational, meaning we depend on the
active participation of our leadership and people in their decisions and ministries.
Our elder board provides guidance and direction for the spiritual life of Grace
Evangelical Church.
- Evaluation - All ministries of Grace will be evaluated periodically for
effectiveness in fulfilling our vision and mission.
- Budget - Our budget will be for growth and maintenance to fulfill our vision and
purpose.
4. Intentional Disciplemaking
- Spiritual Multiplication - We are devoted to evangelizing, discipline, training,
and delegating ministry to others who have been proven faithful.
- Strategy - We will deliberately develop strategies to accomplish each aspect of our
purpose in order to insure our making disciples.
- Method - Disciple-making will take place primarily as a church, in small groups,
teams, and with individuals. We believe accountability, apprenticeship and
adaptability are essential in making strong disciples.
- Disciple-making Process - Disciples are made not born. (Matt. 28:19-20). We are
devoted to developing a sequential growing process for people to become Christ-like
and fruitful.
- Evangelizing - Using different means through the process of sowing, cultivating, and
reaping, a person becomes a believer in Jesus Christ (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8).
- Establishing - A believer becomes a disciple or follower of Jesus Christ and is
grounded in the Word of God through reading the Word of God, prayer, and fellowship
with other believers (Acts 14:21,22; Col. 2:6-7).
- Equipping - Through biblical learning and training, a disciple becomes a laborer or
steward of Jesus Christ (Eph. 4:11-12; Matt. 9:37-38).
- Enabling - The disciple in God’s power uses the spiritual gift (s) God has given to
minister to the believers in the church body, to reach out to those needing to know
Christ as personal Savior, and to touch the lives of those less fortunate (Gal.
5:16; Rom. 12:3-8; I Cor. 12:12-26; Eph. 4:8-16; I John 3:16-18).
