Grace Values:
The purpose of Grace is amplified in what we value as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Convictions
1) The Bible is absolutely true and our final authority for faith and practice
(Psalm 119:89; II Tim. 3:16-17).
2) The personal biblical God is Our Creator, and He exists eternally as a Tri-unity,
one God in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The biblical God cares
deeply about our daily lives (Gen. 1-2; Matt. 3:16-17; II Cor. 13:14; Psalm 121).
3) Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary and is both God and Man. He died on the
cross as a sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the grave, and is alive today in
heaven as the true Savior and High Priest for all who believe in Him (Matt. 1:21-23;
I Tim. 4:10; Heb. 4:15-16).
4) The Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus Christ, convicts unbelievers of their need to
accept Christ as personal Savior, lives in believers to guide, instruct, and empower
them for godly living (John 16:8-15; Rom. 8:14; Gal. 5:16-25).
5) We were created in the image of God but chose to disobey Him. In spite of our
disobedience, God loves us and sent Jesus Christ to be our Savior (John 3:16-17)
6) Only on the basis of Christ’s death and bodily resurrection by God’s grace
through faith in Christ does a person come into a personal and right relationship
with God (Eph. 2:9-9; Rom. 10:9-11) The believer is placed into God’s family and
only has true identity and significance in Jesus Christ (John 1:12-13; II Cor.
5:17).
7) Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and the church is God’s primary way to
accomplish His purposes on planet earth today. It is composed of all believers in
Jesus Christ. The ordinances of the church are water baptism and the Lord’s supper.
They are, however, not regarded as a means of salvation. The church is God’s primary
way to accomplish His purposes on planet earth today (Matt. 16:18; Eph. 2:19-21;
Matt. 28:19-20; I Cor. 11:23-26). Every local church has the right under Christ to
decide and govern its own affairs.
8) Angels were created to be messengers of God. They are not to be worshipped. When
the angel, Lucifer (Satan), was ejected from heaven due to disobeying God, he took
other angels (demons) with him. Jesus Christ provides the believer victory over
Satan and his agents (Eph. 6:10-20), who are destined to eternal punishment (Rev.
20:10).
9) Jesus Christ’s return is personal, imminent, and pre-millennial. Christ‘s
personal and imminent (any time) return, “the blessed hope” has a vital bearing on
the personal life and the service of the believer (Titus 2:11-13).
10)There will be the resurrection of the dead, the believer to God’s eternal home
where there is joy and pleasures forever more (John 14:1-3); the unbeliever to
everlasting conscious torment (John 5:24, 28-29; Rev. 20:11-15).
Commitment
1) Worship- God seeks worshippers, for to worship God is the chief end of man - This can be done individually, as a family, and corporately with the body of believers
(Psalm 95:1-7).
2) Prayer- God bids us to come to His throne of grace to bring our needs and
requests, for prayer is getting to know God, to discover His will for us, and to let
His power be released through us (Psalm 66:16-20; I John 5:14-15).
3) Bible Study- We study the Bible individually, as a family, and as a church family
in order to know God, to learn His truth, and to have His eternal direction for our
lives (II Tim. 2:15; Psalm 119:11).
4) Singlemindedness- Our desire is to focus on God and His priorities for our lives
(Matt. 6:33).
5) Biblical Community- We believe that we should not forsake the assembling of
ourselves together with other believers, whether in small groups or in corporate
worship, so that we can worship God together, pray for one another, study the Bible
together, and encourage each other in his or her walk with the Lord (Acts 2:42-47;
Heb. 10:23-25).
6) Spiritual Gifts- Each believer can know and use the spiritual gifts given by God
as he obeys the Holy Spirit so that God will be glorified and His purposes
accomplished (Rom. 12:4-6a).
7) Our Time- Since we are stewards of the time God gives us, He wants us to use time
to glorify Him and fulfill his purposes (Eph. 5:15-17).
8) Our Money- Since we are stewards of the money God gives us, He wants us to use
money to glorify Him and fulfill His purposes (II Cor. 8:7).
9) Our Faith- God wants us to share our faith to glorify Him and fulfill His
purposes (Eph. 6:19-20; I Pet. 3:15).
10)Our Lives- Since we belong to God, He wants us to give our lives away ministering
to all peoples, especially those less fortunate to fulfill His purposes for His
glory (Rom. 12:1-2).
Character
1) Love- We are to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to
love others with sacrificial and unconditional love (Matt. 22:37-39).
2) Joy - God provides us inner contentment and purpose in spite of our circumstances
(John 15:11; Neh. 8:10b).
3) Peace- God provides freedom from anxiety because things are right between God,
one‘s self, and others (Phil. 4:6-7).
4) Patience- God gives the strength to be slow to anger, and to not retaliate or
work vengeance for wrong received. The believer is long-spirited (Prov. 14:29; Rom.
13:17, 19-21).
5) Kindness- God provides the ability to show His gentleness, His graciousness to
all peoples, forgiving as Christ has forgiven the believer (I Thess. 5:15; Eph.
4:32).
6)Goodness- The Lord’s desire is to have the believer have a heart for
righteousness, abhor evil and display a clean-cut honesty of motive and conduct
(Rom. 13:9).
7) Faithfulness- The believer is to be faithful to God in all ways as well as to
others (I Cor. 4:4:1-2; II Cor. 10:5).
8) Gentleness- It is the believer acting in humility in God’s power, denying
selfishness and ministering to others in a thoughtful, considerate, and calm way,
esteeming them above one‘s self (Rom. 15:2-3; Phil. 2:1-3).
9) Self-Control- Through the Holy Spirit’s power, one is able to control his or her
thoughts, desires, motives, and actions to live like Christ did (Gal. 5:16-24; I
John 2:6).
10)Hope-Regardless of the challenges of life and death, there is always hope, that
something good is about to happen, as God accomplishes His will for the believer for
His glory (Rom. 5:1-5; Heb. 6:17-20).
Grace’s purpose and values are to be lived out in the life of a disciple of Jesus
Christ, which we call experiencing life in Jesus Christ.
